Happy New Year to every member of SCAQ. I trust the holiday season was a chance to relax and enjoy time with friends and family.
For some of our members the Christmas /New Year period was not plain sailing, as they had to deal with cyclone and storm events. Some of the stories were horrendous and the work that they did for their communities in Far North Queensland and on the Gold Coast in very difficult circumstances should be recognised. Well done to you all.
ANZSCO Recognition
Some good news just through this week is that The Australian Bureau of Statistics has now recognized strata management as a distinct occupation in their ANZSCO list. This acknowledgment is a significant milestone, highlighting the professional status and importance of our field. This has been a team effort across SCA with all States contributing to this outcome.
We turn 40!
This year is a special one for SCAQ – we are celebrating our 40th anniversary. To mark this occasion, we invite you to join us at our Annual Conference, happening from March 11-13, 2024, on the Gold Coast. This event is the only one of its kind in Queensland dedicated to the strata sector. We have planned an extensive program with experienced speakers, practical workshops, and a range of exhibitors.
Let's talk insurance!
John Trowbridge joins speaker lineup for 2024 SCAQ conference.
A key feature of our conference will be the presence of John Trowbridge as a panelist, bringing his valuable insights to our insurance discussions. We will also delve into the upcoming legislative changes that will impact our industry. These discussions are crucial for staying informed and prepared.
The SCAQ Insurance Working Group is being set up with people that can make a difference and is also aiming to address and improve insurance-related challenges in our sector in particular for Queensland. This initiative is vital for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of insurance processes for our members.
The 2024 Political Landscape
This year is set to be an excellent opportunity to advance legislative reform for the strata sector. We will be using the upcoming State Government Election to further raise awareness of our sector and the issues facing us. Excellent progress has been made in political circles and this will only get better.
I am looking forward to a year learning, networking, and celebrating our collective achievements in the strata industry with you all.
Andrew Davidson
SCAQ President
