Leading with Purpose: Building Culture and Accountability in 2025




As we step into 2025, I am reminded of the critical role that leadership, culture, and accountability play in driving success. At NLR, we’ve built a foundation on these principles, using them to foster resilience, innovation, and excellence across our organization.


Over my career, I’ve learned the value of teamwork, discipline, and accountability through various experiences—14 years as a professional basketball player, decades as a global motivational speaker, and now as CEO of NLR. Drawing from these lessons, I’ve introduced a modern-day culture and accountability plan that is transforming how we operate.


This plan, rooted in what I call “Championship DNA,” prioritizes leadership at all levels, open communication, and a commitment to results. It’s not just a framework for success at NLR; it’s a blueprint that can benefit any organization, large or small.

Leadership at NLR is about taking responsibility and inspiring others to rise to challenges. I’ve embedded practices that encourage everyone to lead by example, contribute innovative ideas, and take ownership of their roles. For instance, all meetings at NLR are scheduled five minutes early, fostering a habit of punctuality and respect for others’ time. When someone is late, there are clear consequences—because accountability starts with consistency. These small but impactful actions contribute to a culture where discipline and professionalism thrive.
